OUR STORY

Anchor 1

We are wood workers from  Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, located in the southwest border of China. Over ten years, we have been dedicated to making wood furniture from reclaimed wood.

In 2013, we officially named our wood furniture business "帕雅古木" (PAYA HOME), a beautiful name full of ethnic temperament and profound meaning. The original intention is to retain the beauty of reclaimed wood, the vicissitudes of time,  the natural texture of wood, and the humanistic virtue of craftsmen.

We feel that the trace of timber that has been polished over time should be remembered.

Therefore, we constantly look for and reclaim wood from the demolished traditional Dai people's bole-fence style buildings. We bring worn-out timbers new life and let them write a new chapter in the next cycle. Day after day, year after year, no matter how the world has changed, we still stick to our original ethos. If time is the best artist, well, we are friends of time.

You and me, our story, start from here...

THE STORY OF RECLAIMED WOOD

WeChat Image_20220508225854.jpg

What is reclaimed wood?

"Reclaimed wood" refers to the wood dismantled from the traditional bole-fence style architecture of the Dai people. They originate from old Dai villages and usually have  been in use for decades. The wood used by the Dai aboriginal people to build their houses is originally taken from the tropical rain forest. Due to the bio-diversity of primary forests, the harvested wood is not limited to a certain type of wood. Therefore, the reclaimed wood furniture we make actually contains a variety of fine tropical hardwoods.
